Regional Planner I
This planner will be responsible for administering Federal, State and local economic-related programs in the region, local government technical assistance and assisting with other planning-related programs as needed. Planner will work directly with the Economic Development Administration (EDA), FL Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), local economic development councils, and workforce boards to secure funding and promote economic development. This planner may work with city and county staff to provide comprehensive planning and other types of technical assistance. This planner will assist with environmental, transportation and miscellaneous programs as needed. This planner will prepare the work program and associated reports for the commuter assistance program. This planner will perform professional level duties either as a member of a project team or for individual assignments. Tasks are varied and require discipline to meet deadlines and monitor project progress.
Regional Planner I – Transportation
This planner will be responsible for providing staff support to three Metropolitan Planning Organizations (aka Transportation Planning Organizations [TPOs]) and their advisory committees. Planner will assist with the development of priorities of the TPOs and the TPOs’ Transportation Improvement Programs (TIP). Planner will develop familiarity with the projects included in the priorities and TIPs. This planner will prepare reports, agendas and minutes and demonstrate competency in use of databases and Geographic Information Systems. Duties will also include Bicycle and Pedestrian planning activities such as developing Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plans, staffing the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee, developing criteria, scoring projects and presenting prioritized project lists to the TPOs for the Transportation Alternative Program (TAP), conducting bicycle events in various communities and coordinating with health professionals in regards to increasing walking and biking. The development of Congestion Management Process Plans for three TPOs is a part of this position and requires coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation in creating Level of Service Tables for automotive and alternate modes of transportation. Participation on Community Traffic Safety Teams is a part of this position and requires coordination of projects, distribution of information from meetings to supervisor and participation in CTST events.Planner will assist with the development of Corridor Management Plans, including attending and staffing workshops. Other duties may be assigned.
Regional Planner I – Environmental
This planner will be responsible for serving as contact and staff for various environmental-related programs such as the Bay Area Resource Council (BARC) and subcommittees, the Walton/Okaloosa/Santa Rose Regional Utility Authority (RUA), air quality tasks, Brownfields, hazardous waste, and miscellaneous grants. Miscellaneous grants may include energy resiliency, local mitigation, environmental outreach and curriculum development, climate change, and storm water education.This planner will write grant applications as needed. This planner will perform professional level duties either as a member of a project team or for individual assignments. Tasks are varied and require discipline to meet deadlines and monitor project progress.
Information Systems Specialist I
This position's main objective is to support the staff and projects of the West Florida Retional Planning Council. Proficiency in web posting, web page support and network oversight/maintenance is required. The qualified candidate must maintain and troubleshoot numerous hardware and software-related issues. The successful candidate will report to the Finance Director. The majority of daily tasks will be related to the Transportation Division.
