Emergency Ride Home Program
Registered Ride On commuters participating in an alternative commute at least three days per week are eligible to call one of our approved Emergency Ride Home Program providers listed above. Ride On Commuter Services will provide up to four (4) free rides home (per calendar year) for each individual commuter registered with our program. ERHP participants will be given a card to identify themselves to providers. Alternative commutes include carpool, vanpool, public transit, bicycle, and pedestrian modes. The following details outline the roles expected from participating employers, employee-participants, transportation providers, and Ride On commuter services in coordinating ERHP services. Participation in the program implies agreement to the terms outlined below.
Employer (where applicable) will
- Provide Ride On with names, addresses and other basic biographical information of vanpool and carpool participants. (As required on needs survey).
- Update participant list with each new addition or deletion.
- Work with Ride On to make program available to all interested employees.
Transportation Provider will
- Provide one-way transportation from work site to car or home. ONE emergency related interim trip or stop (such as to retrieve a child from a daycare facility) is acceptable and will be paid for by Ride On. Any additional interim trips or stops will be at the cost of the participant/rider.
- Arrive for pick up in a reasonable amount of time and not add additional pick-up or drop off of riders during trip.
- Bill Ride On with an itemized list of trips taken.
- Provide Ride On planners with the voucher turned in by commuter.
Ride On commuter services will
- Match new riders in carpool or vanpool groups upon request.
- Pay Emergency Ride Home provider in a timely manner, when billed.
- Meet on-site at request of employer to help promote the programs to other employees.
- Provide ERHP providers with the names of registered (qualified) participants.
Commuters (Riders/Employees will)
- Live and/or work in service area of Ride On and transportation provider.
- Pre-register. Only-pre registered Ride On participants are eligible for ERHP.
- Notify Ride On immediately with any change in address, employment or mode of transportation.
- Use "alternate" mode of commuter transportation a minimum of three times per week (carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, or public transit.) Bicycle/pedestrian participants may use ERHP for severe inclement weather.
- Only use the Emergency Ride Home on a day that an "alternate" use of transportation has been used to get to work.
- Call an approved provider when needing a ride and refer to ERHP when requesting pick-up.
- Turn in ERHP voucher to transportation provider upon pick-up from workplace.
Emergency Rides Home may NOT be used for
