rideOn is a Commuter Assistance Program with a mission to offer innovative solutions to transportation challenges in the counties of Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton, and Washington.
rideOn assists commuters in their transition from driving alone to more efficient modes of travel, such as carpools, vanpools, mass transit, walking, biking, or telecommuting. The goals of the rideOn program are to offer commuting options, reduce urban highway congestion, improve air quality and promote energy conservation, and reduce the need for costly highway improvements. To meet these goals, the rideOn program offers a number of benefits to commuters. The first benefit is an online computerized ridematching program, EZ-Ride, which helps identify potential carpoolers and vanpoolers with similar daily commutes. Commuters are able to input information directly to the software by registering on the rideOn website, www.wfrpc.org/rideon, or if they prefer, can contact staff and have a ridematch list generated for them. The second benefit is the Emergency Ride Home Program, which provides a voucher for a free emergency taxi ride home for commuters who use a carpool, vanpool, transit, bike or walk to work three days a week or more. The Emergency Ride Home Program allows eligible commuters to return home for any emergency, and eliminates the concern of being stuck at work without transportation.
