West Florida Regional Planning Council contracts with FDOT to bring information from their five-year work program to counties with rural areas. In northwest Florida, those counties include Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes and Washington. WFRPC staff visits the small towns outside the urbanized areas of these counties to solicit input for transportation-related efforts. In August, Brian Youpatoff, Kate Daniel and Mary Beth Washnock met with the staff in the six counties to review previous work as well as discuss potential projects for the next five-year cycle. The majority of the needs include bridge replacements, paved shoulders and resurfacing of roadways. Staff will provide a report of their findings to FDOT in early October. For more information, contact Mary Beth Washnock at 850-332-7976 ext. 228.
