The West Florida Regional Planning Council (WFRPC) works closely with the Florida Department of Emergency Management and emergency management agencies throughout the region on issues relating to hazardous materials, homeland security, mitigation strategies, emergency preparedness and disaster planning.
The WFRPC assists first responders and emergency planners in their quest to be ready for any contingency, natural or otherwise, that may threaten the region and its citizens. Staff are able to support a host of training, inspection, planning and evaluation initiatives that meet state and federal requirements.

The WFRPC staffs the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) for District 1. The LEPC prepares the regional hazardous materials emergency plan, which identifies facilities that use, produce and/or store hazardous substances within Northwest Florida.
